Accident Fund’s Loss Control team recently presented a 2018 WorkSafe Award to the management and employees of Goodrich Quality Theaters (GQT), headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich. These awards are given throughout the U.S. to Accident Fund policyholders who demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety.
What started in 1930 with a single screen in Grand Rapids, GQT now operates 30 movie theaters with 273 screens throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Florida.
According to Jon Lee, senior loss control specialist for Accident Fund, GQT continually looks for new ideas and programs to provide a safer work environment for its employees.
“I meet with their executive management team at least once a year to discuss current safety initiatives and they’re an extremely engaged group,” said Jon. “They consistently review current practices to identify opportunities for improvement and are always open to recommendations resulting from loss control surveys.”
These improvements include new equipment acquisitions and revised policies limiting exposure to work at heights. GQT is also currently testing various types of heat resistant gloves for employees in the concession area to reduce the risk for burns.
“GQT has done an outstanding job creating and implementing an effective safety program, from screening and hiring, to employee training and facility inspections,” said Jon. “Their HR department does a great job managing claims and communicating with injured workers throughout the claim process. They’ve also implemented an effective return to work program.”
Congratulations to Goodrich Quality Theaters for their success and to Accident Fund’s loss control team for their commitment to improving workplace safety for our customers!
